About The Lieu Quan Lion Dance Team
The Lieu Quan Lion Dance team is part of a non-profit organization at Co Lam Pagoda in Seattle and has been performing since 1978. The team currently has 25-30 members with age ranging from 10-20 years old.
The purpose of our Lion Dance team is to preserve the Vietnamese culture and tradition through performing the Lion Dance. To our team members, the art of Lion Dancing is a sport, a form of education, a source of entertainment, and a mean of fund raising to support our organization. To the community, our Lion Dance team support and serve the community at their special events and ceremonies.
We perform the Lion Dance year-round upon requests. Our team currently does around 50 shows a year. The busiest time for our team is during the Lunar New Year. Throughout the year, we do performances for weddings, concert openings, grand openings, birthdays, special Events, school assemblies, library and museum events, parades, etc…
It is believed that Lion Dance can bring people Joy, Happiness, Good Luck, Good Health, Longevity, and Prosperity. We perform the Lion Dance hoping to make this belief a reality.
